LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1959. ARRANGEMENT OF SECTIONS Section 1. Repeal in part of subsection (4) of section 52 of Local Government Act, 1946. 2. Amendment of Athlone Bridge Order, 1956. 3. AN ACT TO REPEAL IN PART SUBSECTION (4) OF SECTION 52 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1946 , AND TO AMEND THE ATHLONE BRIDGE ORDER, 1956. [16th June, 1959.] BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS AS FOLLOWS:— Repeal in part of subsection (4) of section 52 of Local Government Act, 1946. 1.—The words “Except where the bridge order relates to the River Shannon” contained in subsection (4) of section 52 of the Local Government Act, 1946 (which subsection was inserted in that section by subsection (1) of section 40 of the Local Government Act, 1955 ) are hereby repealed. Amendment of Athlone Bridge Order, 1956. 2.—The Athlone Bridge Order, 1956, shall have effect as if Articles 2 and 3 thereof were deleted and the following Article were substituted for Article 2: “2. The bridge shall be reconstructed by the provision of a new fixed span in place of the existing swivel span.” Short title and collective citation. 3.—(1) This Act may be cited as the Local Government Act, 1959. (2) The Local Government Acts, 1925 to 1958, and this Act may be cited together as the Local Government Acts, 1925 to 1959.
