EXPIRING LAWS ACT, 1923. ARRANGEMENT OF SECTIONS Section 1. Acts in First Schedule to become permanent. 2. Act in Second Schedule to be continued. 3. Short title. FIRST SCHEDULE. SECOND SCHEDULE. Number 47. EXPIRING LAWS ACT, 1923. AN ACT TO MAKE PERMANENT CERTAIN EXPIRING ACTS AND TO CONTINUE FOR A LIMITED PERIOD CERTAIN OTHER EXPIRING ACTS. [28th December, 1923]. WHEREAS the Acts mentioned in the First Schedule to this Act and in Part I. of the Second Schedule to this Act in so far as they are in force in Saorstát Eireann and are temporary in their duration are limited to expire on the 31st day of December, 1923: AND WHEREAS the Acts mentioned in Parts II., III. and IV. of the Second Schedule to this Act in so far as they are temporary in their duration are limited to expire on the 27th day of March, 1924, the 31st day of March, 1924, and the 31st day of December, 1924, respectively: AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the Acts mentioned in the First and Second Schedules to this Act and the enactments amending or affecting the same should be respectively made permanent and continued as in this Act is mentioned: BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS OF SAORSTÁT EIREANN AS FOLLOWS:— Acts in First Schedule to become permanent. 1.—(1) The Acts mentioned in the First Schedule to this Act shall, to the extent specified in the third column of that schedule, become permanent Acts, and any provision in any Act in force at the date of the passing of this Act which limits the period for which any of those Acts or any parts thereof are to remain in operation shall cease to have effect. (2) Any unrepealed enactments amending or affecting the enactments made permanent by this section shall, in so far as they are temporary in their duration, become permanent in like manner, whether they are mentioned in the First Schedule to this Act or not. Acts in Second Schedule to be continued. 2.—(1) The Acts mentioned in the Second Schedule to this Act shall, to the extent specified in the third column of that schedule, be continued until the 31st day of December, 1924, and shall then expire unless further continued. (2) Any unrepealed enactments amending or affecting the enactments continued by this section shall, in so far as they are temporary in their duration, be continued in like manner, whether they are mentioned in the Second Schedule to this Act or not.
