- The separation of contaminated wool during shearing.
Who it concerns
- Persons who shear sheep.
- Persons who purchase, acquire, sell, or dispose of wool.
- Manufacturers of sheep dip.
- Persons who use substances for branding sheep.
Key points
- Wool with a "prohibited substance" (tar, pitch, paint incapable of being removed by scouring, daggings, or other substances deemed unsuitable by the Minister) must be separated during shearing.
- It is an offence to purchase, acquire, sell, or dispose of wool on which a prohibited substance is present.
- The Minister can prohibit the use of any specified substance for branding sheep.
- It is an offence to manufacture, purchase, acquire, sell, or dispose of sheep dip that contains colouring matter (not essential for treating sheep diseases) and stains wool.
