In short
This law amends the Connaught Rangers (Pensions) Act, 1936, specifically changing how service pensions are suspended when a person also receives other public money.
What it regulates
- The calculation of how much a service pension is suspended.
- The conditions under which a service pension is suspended.
- The impact of other remuneration, pensions (excluding wound or disability pensions), or allowances from public moneys on service pensions.
- The effective date for these changes.
Who it concerns
- Recipients of service pensions under the Connaught Rangers (Pensions) Act, 1936.
- Individuals receiving remuneration, pensions (other than wound or disability pensions), or allowances payable out of public moneys.
Key points
- The law introduces a new "THIRD SCHEDULE" for calculating the suspension of service pensions.
- Suspension rates vary from Nil to 100% based on the annual amount of other public moneys received, starting at £250.
- If the total of public moneys and service pension would be less than the maximum of the preceding limit, the suspension is reduced to ensure it's not less.
- This amendment is effective from April 1st, 1945.
