IRISH FILM BOARD (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1997
AN ACT TO AMEND AND EXTEND THE
IRISH FILM BOARD ACT, 1980
. [18th December, 1997]
BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS AS FOLLOWS:
Bord Scannán na hÉireann.
1.—(1) The Board established by
section 3
of the
Irish Film Board Act, 1980
, shall, on and after the passing of this Act, be known as Bord Scannán na hÉireann or, in the English language, by the name specified in that section.
(2) The Board referred to in subsection (1) of this section may provide itself with a new seal under
section 14
of the
Irish Film Board Act, 1980
.

2.—Section 10 (as amended by
section 1
of the
Irish Film Board (Amendment) Act, 1993
) of the
Irish Film Board Act, 1980
, is hereby amended by the substitution of “£30,000,000” for “£15,000,000”.
Officers and servants of Board and their remuneration, etc.
3.—The
Irish Film Board Act, 1980
, is hereby amended by the substitution for section 27 of the following:
“Officers and servants.
27.—(1) The Board may appoint such and such number of persons to be officers and servants of the Board as it may, with the consent of the Minister and the Minister for Finance, determine.
(2) An officer or servant of the Board shall be paid, out of moneys at the disposal of the Board, such remuneration and allowances for expenses incurred by such officer or servant as the Board may, with the consent of the Minister and the Minister for Finance, determine.
(3) An officer or servant of the Board shall hold office or employment on such terms and conditions as the Board may, with the consent of the Minister and the Minister for Finance, determine.
(4) The grades of the officers and servants of the Board and the numbers in each grade shall be determined by the Board with the consent of the Minister and the Minister for Finance.
(5) The Board may at any time remove an officer or servant of the Board from being its officer or servant.
Remuneration, etc., of officers and servants.
27A.—(1) Without prejudice to section 27 of this Act, in determining the remuneration or allowances for expenses to be paid to its officers and servants or the other terms or conditions subject to which such officers and servants hold or are to hold their employment, the Board shall have regard to any nationally agreed guidelines and Government policy concerning remuneration and conditions of employment for the time being in existence.
(2) The Board shall comply with any directives with regard to the remuneration or allowances for expenses to be paid to its officers and servants or the other terms or conditions subject to which they hold or are to hold their employment as the Minister, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, may give.”.

4.—(1) This Act may be cited as the Irish Film Board (Amendment) Act, 1997.
(2) The Irish Film Board Acts, 1980 and 1993, and this Act may be cited together as the Irish Film Board Acts, 1980 to 1997.
