Amendment of section 7 of Intoxicating Liquor Act 1960 4. Amendment of Intoxicating Liquor Act 1962 5. Amendment of section 14 of Intoxicating Liquor Act 1988 Acts Referred to Intoxicating Liquor Act 1927 (No. 15) Intoxicating Liquor Act 1960 (No. 18) Intoxicating Liquor Act 1962 (No. 21) Intoxicating Liquor Act 1988 (No. 16) Licensing Acts 1833 to 2011 Number 1 of 2018 INTOXICATING LIQUOR (AMENDMENT) ACT 2018 An Act to amend the Licensing Acts 1833 to 2011 and to provide for related matters. [31st January, 2018] Be it enacted by the Oireachtas as follows: PART 1 Preliminary and General Short title, collective citation and construction 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Intoxicating Liquor (Amendment) Act 2018. (2) The Licensing Acts 1833 to 2011 and this Act may be cited together as the Licensing Acts 1833 to 2018 and shall be construed together as one. PART 2 Sale and Consumption of Intoxicating Liquor Amendment of Intoxicating Liquor Act 1927 2. The Intoxicating Liquor Act 1927 is amended— (a) in section 1(1), in the definition of “week day”, by the substitution of “is not Christmas Day or Saint Patrick’s Day” for “is not Good Friday, Christmas Day, or Saint Patrick’s Day”, (b) in section 2(1) — (i) in paragraph (a), by the substitution of “Christmas Day” for “Christmas Day or Good Friday”, and (ii) in paragraph (b)(iii), by the substitution of “Christmas Eve” for “Christmas Eve and the eve of Good Friday”, (c) in section 4(7)(b), by the substitution of “Saint Patrick’s Day or Christmas Day” for “Saint Patrick’s Day, Christmas Day or Good Friday”, (d) in section 14, by the substitution of the following paragraph for paragraph (e): “(e) the sale of intoxicating liquor by the holder of an on-licence at any hour on licensed premises to a person then lodging in such premises.”, and (e) in section 56(1)(a), by the substitution of “Christmas Day” for “Christmas Day or Good Friday”. Amendment of section 7 of Intoxicating Liquor Act 1960 3. Section 7 (2)(b) of the Intoxicating Liquor Act 1960 is amended— (a) in subparagraph (ii), by the substitution of “evening.” for “evening, or”, and (b) by the deletion of subparagraph (iii). Amendment of Intoxicating Liquor Act 1962 4. The Intoxicating Liquor Act 1962 is amended— (a) in section 11(5), by the substitution of “Christmas Day” for “Christmas Day or Good Friday”, and (b) in section 22, by the substitution of “Sunday or Christmas Day” for “Sunday, Saint Patrick’s Day, Christmas Day or Good Friday”. Amendment of section 14 of Intoxicating Liquor Act 1988 5. Section 14 (1) of the Intoxicating Liquor Act 1988 is amended by the substitution of “any intoxicating liquor outside the hours” for “any intoxicating liquor at any time on Good Friday or outside the hours”.
