- The period of office for members of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara.
- Restrictions on the licensing of vessels used for sea-fishing.
- The definition of entities eligible for sea-fishing licenses.
Who it concerns
- An Bord Iascaigh Mhara (the Board).
- The Minister for Lands.
- Entities seeking licenses for sea-fishing vessels.
Key points
- The limit on advances to the Board is increased from "one million pounds" to "three million pounds".
- The standard period of office for Board members is changed from two years to three years for appointments made after this Act.
- For appointments starting on April 24, 1960, the Minister can appoint two of the six members for two years and two for one year.
- The requirement for licensing sea-fishing vessels changes from "thirty-five" to "the prescribed number (not less than thirty-five)".
- A licensed vessel's owner must be a "body corporate established under and subject to the law of the State and having its principal place of business in the State".
