In short
This law extends the validity of certain existing laws for a limited period, specifically until December 31, 1948, unless they are extended again. It ensures that these "expiring laws" do not automatically cease to be in effect.
What it regulates
- The continuation of specific Acts listed in its Schedule.
- The extent to which each scheduled Act is continued.
- The continuation of any unrepealed enactments that amend or affect the continued Acts, provided they are temporary.
Who it concerns
- Anyone affected by the laws listed in the Schedule, such as the Parliamentary Elections Act, 1868, or the Labourers (Ireland) Act, 1883.
- Government bodies or individuals responsible for implementing or adhering to these specific laws.
Key points
- The Acts mentioned in the Schedule are continued until December 31, 1948.
- These Acts will expire on that date unless they are further continued.
- Any temporary laws that amend or affect the continued Acts are also continued in the same way.
- The continuation applies "to the extent specified in the third column of the said Schedule" for each listed Act.
