In short
This law amends and expands previous acts related to industrial grants, specifically the Undeveloped Areas Acts of 1952 and 1957, and the Industrial Grants Act of 1959. It primarily adjusts the total amount of grants available and clarifies what can be funded.
What it regulates
- The number of members on An Foras Tionscal.
- The total financial limit for industrial grants.
- What "machinery" includes for grant purposes.
- Consequences for breaking the terms of a grant.
Who it concerns
- An Foras Tionscal, the body responsible for making grants.
- Recipients of industrial grants.
Key points
- The number of members of An Foras Tionscal can now be up to five, instead of three.
- The total amount of grants that can be given has increased from "ten million pounds" to "fifteen million pounds."
- References to "machinery" in previous acts now also include "plant."
- If a grant recipient breaks a term related to the disposal of factory sites, premises, machinery, equipment, or shares (for companies), the grant amount must be repaid.
