In short
This law ensures that a portion of money from sweepstakes, originally meant for public charitable hospitals, is instead given to organizations that provide nursing care for the poor.
What it regulates
- The distribution of a specific part of sweepstakes proceeds.
- The definition of "nursing organisation" for the purpose of receiving funds.
- The conditions under which the Minister can provide funds to nursing organizations.
Who it concerns
- The Minister for Local Government and Public Health.
- Nursing organisations that care for poor persons with physical diseases, injuries, or women in childbirth.
Key points
- One-twenty-fifth part of the available surplus from sweepstakes, paid to the Minister, must go to nursing organisations.
- The Minister decides how to pay or apply these funds to suitable nursing organisations.
- The Minister can set conditions for how a nursing organisation uses the money, such as for specific areas or objects.
- This Act will only be in force as long as the Public Charitable Hospitals (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1930, remains in force.
