What it regulates
- The total sum of money that can be collected under section 71 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894.
- The definition of "poultry" within the Poultry (Diseases) Act, 1934, and the Diseases of Animals Act, 1938.
- The collective citation of the Diseases of Animals Acts.
Who it concerns
- Those involved in levying sums for animal disease control.
- Individuals or entities dealing with animals defined as "poultry."
Key points
- The total sum leviable under section 71 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, will no longer be fixed by section 1 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1932.
- After this Act passes, the total sum leviable shall not exceed a poundage of two pence in the pound on the net annual value of property in all administrative counties in the State.
- The definition of "poultry" now includes domestic fowls, turkeys, ducks, geese, guinea-fowls, pigeons, pheasants, and partridges.
- The Minister for Agriculture can declare by order that other birds are also deemed "poultry."
