AmendmentsLeasuithe THE PUBLIC HEALTH (URBAN SANITARY INSPECTORS) ORDER, 1930. To the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor, Aldermen and Burgesses of Dublin; to the Lord Mayor, Aldermen and Burgesses of Cork; to the Councils of the County Boroughs of Limerick and Waterford; to the Council of every Urban County District having a population of not less than ten thousand; and to all others whom it may concern: The Minister for Local Government and Public Health, in exercise of the powers vested in him by Section 11 of the Public Health (Ireland) Act, 1878, and of all other powers in this behalf enabling him, does hereby order and direct as follows, that is to say:— 1. This Order may be cited as the Public Health (Urban Sanitary Inspectors) Order, 1930. 2.
(1)In this Order:— (
- a)the expression "the Sanitary Order No. 2" means the Order made by the Local Government Board for Ireland in pursuance of the Public Health (Ireland) Act, 1878, bearing date the 3rd day of May, 1900, and relating to sanitary officers of urban districts; (
- b)the expression "the Sanitary Order No 3" means the Order made by the Local Government Board for Ireland in pursuance of the Public Health (Ireland) Act, 1878, bearing date the 3rd day of May, 1900, and relating to sanitary officers of certain county boroughs; (
- c)the expression "the Sanitary Order No. 4" means the Order made by the Local Government Board for Ireland in pursuance of the Public Health (Ireland) Act, 1878, bearing date the 3rd day of May, 1900, and relating to the sanitary officers of the County Borough of Dublin.
(2)This Order shall be read and construed as one with the Sanitary Order No. 2, the Sanitary Order No. 3 and the Sanitary Order No. 4. 3. Notwithstanding anything contained in Article 3 of the Sanitary Order No. 2, the Sanitary Order No. 3, or the Sanitary Order No. 4, no person shall hereafter be qualified to be appointed to the office of sanitary sub-officer in any county borough or in any urban county district having a population of not less than ten thousand, unless such person— (
- a)is the holder of a certificate of proficiency in sanitary science from a recognised sanitary or public health institute; or (
- b)has, after an approved course of training in sanitary science, qualified at an examination held by the Local Appointments Commissioners or other recognised body for the purpose of testing the proficiency of such person in sanitary science. 4. Every person who shall hereafter be appointed to the office of sanitary sub-officer in any county borough or urban county district having a population of not less than ten thousand shall, save as hereinafter provided, be required to devote the whole of his time to the duties or his office. Provided that the sanitary authority may, with the consent of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health previously had and obtained, dispense with this requirement in the case of any person appointed to the office of sanitary sub-officer who holds or is appointed to any other office or offices under the sanitary authority. 5. Every person who shall hereafter be appointed to the office of sanitary sub-officer in any county borough or urban county district having a population of not less than ten thousand, shall be called and known by the name of sanitary inspector.
