AmendmentsLeasuithe STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1935. No. 237. CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 17, FIRST PERIOD, ADDITIONAL QUOTA) ORDER, 1935. WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section
(4)of Section 6 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), that whenever the Executive Council has, by order made under that section, appointed a quota in respect of any quota period, the Executive Council may, if they so think fit, by order made before the expiration of such quota period increase such quota by such amount (in that Act referred to as an additional quota) as they think proper. AND WHEREAS by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 17, First Period) Order, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 120 of 1935), made under the said Section 6, the Executive Council appointed the period beginning on the 1st day of June, 1935, and ending on the 31st day of August, 1935, to be the first quota period under the Control of Imports (Quota No. 17) Order, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 97 of 1935), and appointed eighty-five thousand hundredweights of oranges to be the quota in respect of the said first quota period and directed, under the powers conferred on them by sub-section
(3)of the said Section 6, that of the said quota in respect of the said first quota period thirty thousand hundredweights should consist of oranges which are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been produced in Spain. AND WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 11 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 , that the Executive Council may at any time by order amend or revoke any quota order or other order previously made under the said Act, including an order made under the said Section 11 amending a previous order : NOW, the Executive Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Control of Imports Act, 1934 , and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows :—
- This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 17, First Period, Additional Quota) Order,
- The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.
- The quota appointed by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 17, First Period) Order, 1935, in respect of the first quota period appointed by that Order is hereby increased by sixteen thousand hundredweights of oranges, to the intent that the said sixteen thousand hundredweights of oranges shall be an additional quota in respect of the said first quota period and the total quota in respect of the said first quota period shall be one hundred and one thousand hundredweights of oranges.
- Paragraph 5 of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 17, First Period) Order, 1935, is hereby amended by the deletion of the words " thirty thousand hundredweights " now contained therein, and the substitution for the words so deleted, of the words " thirty-four thousand two hundred hundredweights, " to the intent that of the said total quota of one hundred and one thousand hundredweights of oranges, thirty-four thousand two hundred hundredweights shall consist of oranges which are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been produced in Spain.
