CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 35) ORDER, 1937. WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), that the Executive Council may at any time by order (in that Act called a quota order) prohibit, subject to the provisions of the said Act, the importation into Saorstát Eireann on or after a specified day (in that Act referred to as the commencement of such order) not prior to the date of such order of any particular description or descriptions of goods, and that the Executive Council shall in and by every quota order, appoint the day (not more than six weeks after the commencement of such order) on which the first quota period under such quota order shall commence : AND WHEREAS the said Control of Imports Act, 1934 , was amended in certain respects by the Control of Imports (Amendment) Act, 1937 (No. 8 of 1937) : NOW, the Executive Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Control of Imports Acts, 1934 and 1937, and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows :— 1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 35) Order, 1937. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas. 3. In this Order— the expression " the Acts " means the Control of Imports Acts, 1934 and 1937. 4. Subject to the exceptions and qualifications mentioned in the next following paragraph of this Order, the importation into Saorstát Eireann on or after the 25th day of August, 1937, of any of the following articles is hereby prohibited, that is to say :— (
  4. a)sparking plugs ; (
  5. b)articles which, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, are component parts of sparking plugs and are made wholly or mainly of metal. 5. The prohibition effected by the next preceding paragraph of this Order shall not extend or apply to— (
  6. a)copper washers, or (
  7. b)any sparking plug which is, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, designed, constructed, and intended for use exclusively for scientific purposes or any article which is, in the opinion aforesaid, a component part of any such sparking plug, or (
  8. c)any article which is shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to be imported solely for use as a sample, or (
  9. d)sparking plugs which at importation form part of a motor car, or (
  10. e)sparking plugs which at importation form part of another article (other than a motor car engine) and, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, represent in value an inconsiderable part of the total value of such article, or ( f ) sparking plugs which are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to be intended solely for use on aeroplanes engaged in transatlantic air service using an airport in Saorstát Eireann, or (
  11. g)any article which is imported under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf issued under the Acts, or (
  12. h)any article to which this Order is precluded, by Section 4 of the Control of Imports (Amendment) Act, 1937 , from applying. 6. The 5th day of October, 1937, is hereby appointed to be the day on which the first quota period under this Order shall commence. DUBLIN. This 24th day of August, 1937.
