I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Supplies, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for Industry and Commerce by Section 3 of the Bread (Regulation of Prices) Act, 1936 (No. 29 of 1936), and delegated to the Minister for Supplies under Section 6 of the Emergency Powers Act, 1939 (No. 28 of 1939), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :— 1.—

(1)This Order may be cited as the Fancy Bread (Prices) Order, 1943.
(2)This Order shall come into operation on the 13th day of December, 1943. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. 3. This Order applies to the whole of the State. 4. In this Order the expression " fancy bread " means bread other than— (
  1. a)bread commonly known as batch bread, or (
  2. b)bread of any of the following proprietary brands :— Hofda, Thoma, Procea, Halcon, Bermaline, Wheta, or (
  3. c)bread of any of the following special brands :— Perfection produced by Johnston Mooney and O'Brien, Ltd., of Dublin. Ideal produced by Bolands, Ltd., of Dublin, True-Gael produced by James Rourke of Dublin, Maltex produced by Simcox & Sons, Ltd., of Cork, Ormah produced by Ormond and Ahern, Ltd., of Cork, Numalt produced by Richard V. Jago, of Cork, Sunshine Brown produced by Peter Lyons, of Drogheda, Macamalt produced by Alexander MacArthur of Sligo, Brandon produced by Patrick E. Barry of Tralee, Abermalt produced by T. W. Abernethy & Sons, Ltd., of Castlemartyr, Co. Cork, Provincial Malt produced by Joseph Hosford, Ltd., of Cork, or (
  4. d)sliced pan loaves sold in wrappers, or (
  5. e)bread commonly known as Soda Bread or Soda Cake, i.e., an aerated bread containing aerating powders, salt and milk. 5. The maximum prices at which fancy bread, weighing one pound, two pounds or four pounds in weight, may be sold or offered for sale, when sold or offered for sale under any set of conditions mentioned in the second column of the Schedule hereto, shall be the prices specified in the third column of the said Schedule opposite the mention of such set of conditions. 6. The Fancy Bread (Prices) (No. 2) Order, 1942 ( S. R. & O. No. 386 of 1942 ), and the Fancy Bread (Prices) (No. 2) Order, 1942 (Amendment) Order, 1943 (S. R. & O. No. 228 of 1943) are hereby revoked. SCHEDULE. MAXIMUM PRICES AT WHICH FANCY BREAD MAY BE SOLD OR OFFERED FOR SALE IN UNITS OF ONE POUND, TWO POUNDS OR FOUR POUNDS IN WEIGHT. Ref. No.

(3)1 When sold or offered for sale wholesale, delivery being taken by the purchaser at the plaace where the fancy bread is kept by the vendor. 4d. per unit of 1 lb. in weight. 7½d. per unit of 2 lbs. in weight. 1/3 per unit of 4 lbs. in weight. less 10 per cent. in each instance. 2 When sold or offered for sale wholesale, delivery being made by the vendor to the purchaser at some place other than the place where the fancy bread is kept by the vendor. 4d. per unit of 1 lb. in weight. 7½d. per unit of 2 lbs. in weight. 1/3 per unit of 4 lbs. in weight, less 10 per cent. in each instance. 3 When sold or offered for sale retail by the baker thereof in a shop owned by him, delivery being taken by the purchaser at such shop. 3¾d. per unit of 1 lb. in weight. 7d. per unit of 2 lbs. in weight. ½ per unit of 4 lbs. in weight. (3)4 When sold or offered for sale retail by a person other than the baker thereof in a shop owned by such person, delivery being taken by the purchaser at such shop. 4d. per unit of 1 lb. in weight. 7½d. per unit of 2 lbs. in weight. 1/3 per unit of 4 lbs. in weight. 5 When sold or offered for sale retail, delivery being made by the vendor to the purchaser at some place other than the place of sale. 4d. per unit of 1 lb. in weight. 7½d. per unit of 2 lbs. in weight. 1/3 per unit of 4 lbs. in weight. 6 When sold or offered for sale retail from a vehicle owned by the vendor, immediate delivery being taken by the purchaser. 4d. per unit of 1 lb. in weight. 7½d. per unit of 2 lbs. in weight. 1/3 per unit of 4 lbs. in weight.
