AmendmentsLeasuithe The Government in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Emergency Powers Acts, 1939 to 1942 and of every and any power them in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :— Short title. 1. This Order may be cited as the Emergency Powers (No. 349) Order, 1944. Amendment of the Midwives Act, 1944. 2. The Midwives Act, 1944 (No. 10 of 1944) shall have effect as if— (
- a)the following sub-section were substituted for sub-section
(2)of section 1, that is to say :— “
(2)This Act shall come into operation on such date as may be fixed by order of the Minister”; and (b) in the definition (contained in section 2) of the expression “the appointed day” the words and figures “namely, the 1st day of January, 1945” were omitted.
