AmendmentsLeasuithe STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1947. No. 97. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (TURF INDUSTRY) (EXCLUSION) ORDER, 1947. The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 29 and 52 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, and having first consulted with representatives of employers and workers, hereby orders as follows: — 1.—
(1)This Order may be cited as the Conditions of Employment (Turf Industry) (Exclusion) Order, 1947.
(2)This Order shall come into operation on the 28th day of March, 1947, and shall continue in operation until the 31st day of December, 1947, and shall then cease to have effect unless previously revoked or continued by the Minister. 2. The form of industrial work specified in the First Schedule to this Order is hereby declared to be excluded industrial work for the purpose of sections 31 , 32 , 38 , 39 , 41 , 42 , 47 , 48 and 49 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936). 3. Save as provided by Article 4 of this Order, it shall not be lawful for any employer who employs any worker to do the form of industrial work specified in the First Schedule to this Order to permit such worker— (
- a)if a woman or a young person, to commence such work earlier than the hour of 8 a.m. on any day, or (
- b)if a woman or a young person, to continue work after the hour of 10 p.m. on any day, or (
- c)if a young person, to continue work after the completion of eight hours' work on any day, or (
- d)if a woman, to continue work after the completion of nine hours' work on any day, or (e)if a young person, to work between the hours of 10 p.m. on any day and 8 a.m. on the following day, or to conmence work on any day until after the expiration of eleven hours from the time at which he ceased to do industrial work on the previous day. 4. An employer may employ a worker to do work on any particular day for a period (in this Article referred to as daily overtime) in excess of the period permitted in that behalf by Article 3 of this Order but subject to the limitation that the said daily overtime shall not exceed in respect of a young person, two hours. 5. The Orders specified in the Second Schedule to this Order are hereby revoked. FIRST SCHEDULE. Work done in connection with the production of turf. SECOND SCHEDULE. ORDERS REVOKED.
