I, GERALD BOLAND, Minister for Justice, with the approval of the Government and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 14 of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925 (No. 7 of 1925), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows : 1.

(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Gárda Síochána (Appointments) Regulations, 1945 (Amendment) Regulations, 1951.
(2)The Gárda Síochána (Appointments) Regulations, 1945 ( S. R. & O. No. 173 of 1945 ), the Gárda Síochána (Appointments) Regulations, 1945 (Amendment) Regulations, 1947 ( S. R. & O. No. 69 of 1947 ), and these Regulations may be cited together as the Gárda Síochána (Appointments) Regulations, 1945 to 1951. 2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 20th day of November, 1951. 3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations. 4.
(1)Where the age of a person is to be determined for the purposes of paragraph
(1)of Article 4 of the Gárda Síochána (Appointments) Regulations, 1945 ( S. R. & O. No. 173 of 1945 ), and the person is certified by the Adjutant-General to have served satisfactorily in any one or more of the following— (i) the Forces (as defined in subsection
(3)of section 3 of the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1923 (No. 30 of 1923)), (
  1. ii)The Reserve—First Line, (iii) An Fórsa Cosanta Aitiúil, (
  2. iv)An Sluagh Muiri, the person shall be entitled to have deducted from his actual age a period not exceeding four years (subject to paragraph (
  3. c)of this Article) which shall be : (
  4. a)in respect of permanent and full-time service in the said Forces, a period equal to the period or aggregate of the periods of such service, (
  5. b)in respect of effective service in the Reserve—First Line, a period equal to half of the period or of the aggregate of the periods of such service, (
  6. c)in respect of effective service in An Fórsa Cosanta Aitiúil or in An Sluagh Muiri, a period, not exceeding two years, equal to half of the period or of the aggregate of the periods of such service.
(2)Paragraph
