LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Bread (Regulation of Prices) Act, 1936 (No. 29 of 1936), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows : 1.—

(1)This Order may be cited as the Bread (Prices) Order, 1952.
(2)This Order shall come into operation on the 5th day of July, 1952. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937) applies to this Order. 3. This Order applies to the whole of the State. 4. In this Order— " batch bread " means bread commonly known as batch bread, that is to say bread which is not baked in containers and is sold or offered for sale in loaves of which the outside is not all crust ; " two-piece batch bread " means batch bread the dough of which, in the process of manufacture, is moulded in two pieces ; " turnover " means batch bread commonly known as turnover, grinder, carrick or lump bread ; " fancy bread " means bread other than— (
  1. a)batch bread, or (
  2. b)bread of any of the following proprietary brands ; (
  3. i)Hofda, (
  4. ii)Procea, (iii) Bermaline, (
  5. iv)Thoma, (
  6. v)Halcon, (
  7. vi)Wheta, (vii) Hovis, or (
  8. c)bread of any of the following special brands : (
  9. i)Perfection—produced by Johnston Mooney and O'Brien, Ltd., of Dublin. (
  10. ii)Ideal—produced by Bolands, Ltd., of Dublin. (iii) True-Gael—produced by James Rourke of Dublin. (
  11. iv)Maltex—produced by Simcox and Sons, Ltd., of Cork. (
  12. v)Ormah—produced by Ormond and Ahern, Ltd., of Cork. (
  13. vi)Numalt—produced by Richard V. Jago, of Cork. (vii) Sunshine Malt—produced by Peter Lyons of Drogheda. (viii) Macamalt—produced by Alexander MacArthur, of Sligo. (
  14. ix)Brandon—produced by Patrick E. Barry of Tralee. (
  15. x)Abermalt—produced by T. W. Abernethy and Sons, Ltd., of Castlemartyr, Co. Cork. (
  16. xi)Provincial Malt—produced by Joseph Hosford, Ltd., of Cork. (xii) Nutrex—produced by Bolands, Ltd., of Dublin. (xiii) Numalt—produced by Bolands, Ltd., of Dublin. (xiv) Speirmalt—produced by Spratts Patent (Ireland), Ltd., of Dublin. (
  17. xv)Ariel Malt Bread—produced by Jeffers, Ltd., of Bandon. (xvi) Ceres—produced by Arthur B. Brennan, Ltd., of Arklow, or (
  18. d)sliced pan loaves sold in wrappers, or (
  19. e)bread commonly known as soda bread or soda cake, that is to say, aerated bread containing aerating powders, salt and milk, or (
  20. f)bread commonly known as Vienna bread. 5. The maximum price at which bread which is batch bread or fancy bread may be sold or offered for sale, when sold or offered for sale under any set of conditions mentioned in the second column of the Schedule to this Order, shall be the appropriate price specified in the third column of that Schedule opposite the mention of the relevant set of conditions. 6. Bread (other than bread referred to in paragraphs (b), (c), (
  21. e)and (
  22. f)in Article 4 of this Order) shall not be sold or offered for sale unless it is duly sold or offered for sale either (
  23. i)in units of less than eight ounces in weight or (
  24. ii)in units of one pound or multiples of one pound in weight. 7. The Bread (Prices) Order, 1951 ( S. I. No. 123 of 1951 ) is hereby revoked. SCHEDULE.
