INFECTIOUS DISEASES (MAINTENANCE) REGULATIONS, 1952. The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers vested in him by Section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947) hereby makes the following regulations :— 1. These regulations may be cited as the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1952. 2. The Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1948 and 1949 are hereby revoked. 3. In these regulations— " the Act " means the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947); " outgoings " means the rent, ground rent, rates and purchase annuity payable in respect of premises and mortgage repayments relating to the purchase of premises ; " receiving institutional services " means receiving institutional sevices from a health authority or pursuant to an agreement made by a health authority under section 12 of the Act; " person " means a person to whom section 44 of the Act applies by virtue of subsection

(1)of that section, and " the payment " means the payment to be made by a health authority under section 44 of the Act to or in respect of a person or his dependents. 4.
(1)The payment shall be a weekly payment not exceeding— (
  1. a)the sum specified in Part One of the Schedule hereto which is appropriate to the person and (
  2. b)such of the increases specified in Part Two of the said Schedule as are appropriate.
(2)Where a married woman whose husband is unable to make proper provision for the care of their family is undergoing treatment for an infectious disease to the satisfaction of the chief medical officer of the health authority in whose functional area she resides and where with the approval of the health authority a woman is employed to take care of such family, the payment shall not exceed twenty-two shillings where such married woman is ordinarily resident in a county borough or seventeen shillings where she is ordinarily resident elsewhere.   7. b)For a male person with a dependent wife where such person has one or more dependents (other than such wife) where such wife is receiving institutional services and, with the approval of the health authority a female person is employed to take care of such dependents. 1 2 0 or the actual wage payable to the person employed whichever is the lesser. 17 0 or the actual wage payable to the person employed whichever is the lesser. 2. For each dependent (other than a wife or husband) aged— (
  8. a)16 years and over 12 0 10 0 (
  9. b)under 16 years 8 0 6 0 3. For a person who is owner or tenant of the premises in which he ordinarily resides or who not being the owner or tenant pays or contributes substantially towards the payment of the outgoings of the premises in which he ordinarily resides. 15 0 or the weekly amount of the outgoings or the amount of the weekly contribution towards the outgoings whichever is the lesser. 10 0 or the weekly amount of the outgoings or the amount of the weekly contribution towards the outgoings whichever is the lesser.
