No. 324 of 1952. MEDICAL PREPARATIONS (CORTISONE AND A.C.T.H.) REGULATIONS, 1952. The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 65 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947) hereby orders as follows :— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Medical Preparations (Cortisone and A.C.T.H.) Regulations, 1952. 2. In these Regulations— "the Minister" means the Minister for Health; "controlled preparation" means— (
4. a)the substance known as Cortisone or 11—dehydro—17—hydroxycorticosterone; (
5. b)the substance known as A.C.T.H. (being the adrenocorticotrophic hormone of the anterior pituitary gland); and includes any preparation containing either of these substances; "medical prescription" means a written prescription for a controlled preparation which is— (
6. a)signed and dated by a registered medical practitioner whose address is written on the prescription, and (
7. b)issued by that medical practitioner to a person, whose name and address is recorded thereon, prescribing the supply of a specified quantity of a controlled preparation to such person; "veterinary prescription" means a written prescription for a controlled preparation which is— (
8. a)signed and dated by a registered veterinary surgeon whose address is written on the prescription, and (
9. b)issued by that veterinary surgeon for veterinary purposes to a person whose name and address is recorded thereon, prescribing the supply of a specified quantity of a controlled preparation to such person ; "sale" includes the offering or keeping for sale. 3. Articles 4 and 5 of these Regulations shall not apply to the sale of a controlled preparation— (
10. a)to a pharmaceutical chemist, a dispensing chemist and druggist or a registered druggist; (
11. b)to a hospital or similar institution, to a local authority, to the Medical Research Council of Ireland or to a registered medical practitioner; (
12. c)to the Veterinary College of Ireland, to the Veterinary Research Laboratory of the Department of Agriculture or to a registered veterinary surgeon. (
13. d)to a person engaged in the business of wholesale dealing in medical preparations or (
14. e)to any other person authorised in that behalf by the Minister. 4. No person other than a pharmaceutical chemist, a dispensing chemist and druggist or a registered druggist shall sell a controlled preparation. 5.
