EMERGENCY IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (NO. 308) (IRON AND STEEL WIRE, BARS AND SECTIONS) ORDER, 1953. The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties Act, 1932 (No. 16 of 1932), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows : 1. This Order may be cited as the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 308) (Iron and Steel Wire, Bars and Sections) Order, 1953. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. 3. Section 9 of the Finance Act, 1940 (No. 14 of 1940), and the First Schedule thereto, as amended by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 304) (Iron and Steel Bars and Sections) Order, 1953 ( S.I. No. 81 of 1953 ), shall as respects articles imported on or after the 19th day of June, 1953, have effect as if— (
  4. a)the following were substituted for the matter in the second column of that Schedule at reference number 6, that is to say : "Articles of iron or steel of any of the following descriptions which are either coated with zinc or uncoated and which have not been worked and are not insulated, that is to say : (
  5. a)bars, rods and sections (including two or more bars or rods twisted together) which have cross sections in the form of— (
  6. i)circles whose diameter does not exceed two inches, or (
  7. ii)squares whose side does not exceed two inches, or (iii) rectangles which do not exceed three inches in width and one inch in thickness, or (
  8. iv)angles which are not less than three-quarters of an inch by three-quarters of an inch and not more than three inches by three inches, or (
  9. v)any other cross-sectional shapes (other than sections commonly known as H, I, T, Z or U sections) of which no cross-sectional dimension exceeds two inches ; (
  10. d)The method of calculation to be adopted for the purpose of the immediately preceding condition shall be settled to the satisfaction of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture. (
  11. e)The operation of the said weir during the currency of this Order shall be at all times open to supervision by such officer or officers as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture and the Limerick Board of Conservators may, respectively, appoint for such purpose.
