The Inland Post Amendment (No. 5) Warrant, 1953. AmendmentsLeasuithe S.I. No. 248 of 1953. DEPARTMENT OF POSTS AND TELEGRAPHS. THE INLAND POST AMENDMENT (No. 5) WARRANT, 1953. Dated: 29th June, 1953. The Minister for Finance, on the representation of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs as testified by his signature hereto, and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Post Office Acts, 1908 to 1951, and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby orders as follows :— 1.

(1)This Warrant may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 5) Warrant, 1953.
(2)This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1953. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Warrant. 3. This Warrant shall be construed as one with the Inland Post Warrant, 1939 ( S. R. & O. No. 202 of 1939 ), hereinafter referred to as the Principal Warrant. 4. In this Warrant, the expression " business reply packet " means a letter, postcard or printed packet which— (
  1. a)is addressed to a person who has made provision to the satisfaction of the Minister for the payment of postage in accordance with the provisions of this Warrant on business reply packets received by him, (
  2. b)contains or has thereon only a communication sent by way of reply to a communication from the addressee, and (
  3. c)is distinguished or marked in such manner as the Minister may direct. 5. The provisions of the Principal Warrant with reference to prepayment of postage shall not apply to— (
  4. a)business reply packets, or (
  5. b)postage and fees payable on postal packets with respect to which the Minister has entered into an arrangement with the senders thereof for the grant of credit facilities,and as respects a business reply packet, the postage charged, if not prepaid, shall be the postage otherwise chargeable thereon and, in addition to postage, a fee of one halfpenny shall also be charged.
