The Foreign Post Amendment (No. 2) Warrant, 1953. AmendmentsLeasuithe S.I. No. 280 of 1953. DEPARTMENT OF POSTS AND TELEGRAPHS. THE FOREIGN POST AMENDMENT (NO. 2) WARRANT, 1953. Dated : 5th May, 1953. The Minister for Finance, on representation of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs testified by his signature hereto, and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Post Office Acts, 1908 to 1951, and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby by this Warrant orders as follows :— 1.—
(1)This Warrant may be cited as the Foreign Post Amendment (No. 2) Warrant, 1953.
(2)This Warrant shall come into operation on the 18th day of May,
- The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Warrant.
- This Warrant shall be construed as one with the Foreign Post Warrant, 1949 ( S.I. No. 267 of 1949 ), hereinafter referred to as the Principal Warrant.
- Regulation 17 of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the insertion before " dimensions " of " maximum dimensions or is less than the appropriate minimum ". 5.—
(1)The provisions of the Foreign Parcels (Customs) Warrant, 1885, and of any other Warrant made under section 14 of the Post Office (Parcels) Act, 1882, shall apply to insured boxes, green label letter packets, green label sample packets and green label printed packets to which this Warrant relates in like manner as they apply to parcels.
(2)For the purpose of this Regulation the expressions " green label letter packet ", " green label sample packet " and " green label printed packet " mean respectively a letter packet, sample packet and printed packet on which there has been affixed on the outside a green Customs label of such kind and stating the contents of the packet in such manner and form and with such other particulars as the Minister may direct, or on which there has been affixed a green Customs label bearing the words " Douane (peut être ouvert d'office) " and to which there is attached or in which there is enclosed a declaration of such kind, and stating the contents of the packet in such manner and form, and with such other particulars, as the Minister may direct.
(3)Regulation 54 of the Principal Warrant is hereby revoked. 6. The Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution, for the First, Second and Fourth Schedules thereto, of the First, Second and Third Schedules to this Warrant. FIRST SCHEDULE. Insured Box All places to which service is available 10 oz. or less Each additional 2 oz. or fraction thereof 1s. 8d. 4d. 12 ins. x 8 ins. x 4 ins. 2 lb. 9. Air Mail Packet and Air Letter All places to which service is available Such rate as may be fixed by the Minister from time to time,provided that the maximum rate for an air mail packet does not exceed seven shillings and sixpence for each ½ oz. or part of ½ oz. in weight and for an air letter one shilling. Air Mail Packets: 4 lb Maximum dimensions: Length, breadth and width combined, 3 ft.; greatest dimension, 2 ft. In roll form, length and twice diameter, 3 ft 3 ins.; greatest dimension, 2 ft. 8 ins. Minimum dimensions: Length, 4 ins.; width, 2¾ ins. Air Letters: As per form approved by the Minister. As may be permitted by the Minister. SECOND SCHEDULE. Service Charge 1. Late Fee Postal Packet A fee (in addition to the postage) not exceeding 6d. as may be prescribed. 2. Customs Clearance Fee on incoming postal packet liable to Customs Duty 1s fee per packet for Customs Charges not exceeding 102.; 2s. fee per packet for Customs Charges exceeding 10s. 3. Express postal packet—outgoing A fee not exceeding 1s. as may be prescribed. Express postal packet—incoming At the scale of fees in force for express delivery of Inland postal packets. 4. Ordinary registration A fee of 6d. per packet. Late-Fee registration A fee (in addition to the ordinary registration fee) not exceeding 6d. as may be prescribed. 5. Advice of delivery A fee of 3d. per registered postal packet. THIRD SCHEDULE.
