AmendmentsLeasuithe I, JAMES EVERETT, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 12 of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925 (No. 7 of 1925), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, and with the sanction of the Minister for Finance testified by his official seal affixed hereto, hereby order as follows : 1.—

(1)This Order may be cited as the Garda Síochána Allowances Order, 1954.
(2)The Garda Síochána Allowances Orders, 1947 to 1953, and this Order may be cited together as the Garda Síochána Allowances Orders, 1947 to
  1. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.
  2. In this Order— " the Principal Order " means the Garda Síochána Allowances (Consolidation) Order, 1947 ( S. R. & O. No. 167 of 1947 ), as amended ; " the Order of 1953 " means the Garda Síochána Allowances Order, 1953 ( S.I. No. 258 of 1953 ). 4.—
(1)Article 8 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution, in paragraph
(1), of " £4 11s. 0d." for " £4 ".
(2)This Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1954. 5.—
(1)Article 10 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the insertion after paragraph
(1)of the following new paragraph :— " (1A) Officers entitled to an initial uniform allowance of £21 under paragraph
(1)of this Article shall, in addition, be paid during the period of one year immediately following the date of their promotion to officer rank a uniform allowance at the rate of £22 per annum."
(2)This Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 20th day of July, 1953. 6.—
(1)Article 11 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution of " £5 4s. 0d." for " £4 ".
(2)This Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1954. 7.—
(1)Article 12 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution of " 13/- " for " 10/-", and of " 10/6d." for " 8/- ".
(2)This Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1954. 8.—
(1)Article 13 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution of " 14/- " for " 10/- ".
(2)This Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1954. 9.—
(1)Article 4 of the Order of 1953 is hereby amended by the substitution for the Table in paragraph
(5)of the following Table : First 14 nights in any one place From 15th to 30th night After 30 nights s. d. s. d. s. d. Sergeants } 10 0 6 6 4 0 Guards
(2)This Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of April,
