EMERGENCY IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 396) (IRON AND STEEL BARS, RODS AND SECTIONS) ORDER, 1957. The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties Act, 1932 (No. 16 of 1932), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, hereby order as follows : 1. This Order may be cited as the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 396) (Iron and Steel Bars, Rods and Sections) Order, 1957. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. 3. Section 9 of the Finance Act, 1940 (No. 14 of 1940), and the First Schedule thereto shall, as respects articles imported on or after the 9th day of April, 1957, have effect as if " but excluding any bar, rod or section which is uncoated and whose greatest cross sectional dimension is neither less than three—sixteenths of an inch nor more than five—sixteenths of an inch and which in all other respects has a cross section in the form specified either in subparagraph (
- i)or subparagraph (
- v)of this paragraph " were inserted after " together " in paragraph (
- a)of the description (inserted by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 308) (Iron and Steel Wire, Bars and Sections) Order, 1953 ( S.I. EXPLANATORY NOTE This Order provides for the exclusion of certain Iron and Steel Bars, Rods and Sections, whose greatest cross-sectional dimension is neither less than three-sixteenths of an inch nor more than five-sixteenths of an inch, from the scope of the Customs duty at Tariff Reference 125/4 of the Customs and Exise Tariff.
