No. 92 of 1957. COMMITTEES OF AGRICULTURE (OFFICERS' TRAVELLING EXPENSES AND MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE AND EXPENSES) REGULATIONS, 1956 (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1957. I, PROINSIAS MAC AOGÁIN, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 28 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931) hereby make the following regulations : 1.—

(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1956 (Amendment) Regulations, 1957.
(2)The Principal Regulations and these Regulations may be cited together as the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1956 and
  2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.
  3. In these Regulations " the Principal Regulations " means the Committees of Agriculture(Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1956 ( S.I. No. 70 of 1956 ).
  4. Part III of the Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the deletion of paragraphs 10 and 11 and the substitution therefor of the following paragraphs : " 10.—
(1)Subject to the provisions of paragraph 9 of this Schedule, the following shall be the rates of maintenance expenses in the form and by way of a night allowance which shall be payable by a committee to its officers, that is to say : (
  1. a)where the salary of an officer exceeds £613 per annum the rate shall be thirty shillings and six pence per night covering a period of twenty-four hours' absence from the officer's headquarters ; after a continuous period of absence of seven nights in any one place the rate of thirty shillings and six pence shall be reduced to the rate of twenty-six shillings per night for the remainder of the officer's stay, and (
  2. b)where the salary of an officer is not less than £384 but does not exceed £613 per annum the rate shall be twenty-five shillings and sixpence per night covering a period of twenty-four hours' absence from the officer's headquarters ; after a continuous period of absence of seven nights in any one place the rate of twenty-five shillings and six pence shall be reduced to the rate of twenty-one shillings per night for the remainder of the officer's stay, and (
  3. c)where the salary of an officer is less than £384 per annum the rate shall be twenty-two shillings per night covering a period of twenty-four hours' absence from the officer's headquarters ; after a continuous period of absence of seven nights in any one place the rate of twenty-two shillings shall be reduced to the rate of eighteen shillings per night for the remainder of the officer's stay.
(2)In this paragraph the word " salary " shall be construed as excluding any allowance for travelling and maintenance expenses. 11. The following shall be the rates of maintenance expenses in the form and by way of a day allowance payable by a committee to such of its officers as are entitled to a day allowance, that is to say : (
  1. a)where an officer of a committee is absent from headquarters for a period of not less than ten hours (not extending overnight) or a period of not less than ten hours immediately following the period of twenty-four hours covered by a night allowance, the rate shall be one-third of the rate payable to the officer in the case of a night allowance applicable to the first seven nights of a continuous period of absence by the officer in any one place ; (
  2. b)where an officer of a committee is absent from headquarters for a period of not less than seven but less than ten hours (not extending overnight) or a period of not less than seven but less than ten hours immediately following the period of twenty-four hours covered by a night allowance, the rate shall be— (
  3. i)four shillings and six pence, in case the rate of night allowance payable to the officer in respect of the first seven nights of a continuous period of absence in any one place is thirty shillings and six pence ; (
  4. ii)four shillings and three pence, in case the rate of night allowance payable to the officer in respect of the first seven nights of a continuous period of absence in any one place is twenty-five shillings and six pence ; (iii) four shillings in any other case."
