AmendmentsLeasuithe S.I. No. 165 of 1958. OIL POLLUTION OF THE SEA ACT, 1956 (COMMENCEMENT) (No. 2) ORDER, 1958. I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 2 of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (No. 25 of 1956), hereby order as follows : 1. This Order may be cited as the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order, 1958. 2. So much of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (No. 25 of 1956), as was not brought into operation by the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (Commencement) Order, 1957 ( S.I. No. 203 of 1957 ), shall come into operation on the first day of August, 1958. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 28th day of July, 1958. SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce. EXPLANATORY NOTE. This Order brings into operation those provisions of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 , which prohibit the discharge from Irish ships of certain oils within the sea areas specified in Parts III and IV of the Schedule of the Act. These sea areas consist of :— (
4. a)the seas which lie within 50 miles from land and to which the law does not already extend, (
5. b)part of the Adriatic Sea, and (
6. c)part of the seas which are within 150 miles of the Australian Coast (for tankers only).
