No. 65 of 1958. TRANSIT OF ANIMALS ORDER, 1927 (SWINE FEVER) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1958. I, PATRICK SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 49 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, and by the Agriculture Acts, 1931 to 1955, hereby order as follows : 1. This Order may be cited as the Transit of Animals Order, 1927 (Swine Fever) (Amendment) Order, 1958. 2. This Order shall come into operation on the 10th day of March, 1958. 3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. 4. The Transit of Animals Order, 1927 ( S. R. & O. No. 39 of 1927 ), the Transit of Animals Order, 1933 ( S. R. & O. No. 42 of 1933 ), and this Order shall be construed together as one order and may be cited together as the Transit of Animals Orders, 1927 to 1958. 5. Article 29 of the Transit of Animals Order, 1927 ( S. R. & O. No. 39 of 1927 ), shall, in respect of pigs, have effect as if— (
- a)in paragraph
(1)" Any mechanically propelled road vehicle, including any trailer attached thereto, which is used on a highway or thoroughfare by any person— (
- a)for hire for the conveyance of animals ; or (
- b)for the conveyance of animals the property of a dealer ; or (
- c)for the conveyance of animals the property of two or more owners," were deleted and " Any road vehicle, including any trailer attached thereto, which is used on a highway or thoroughfare by any person for the conveyance of pigs," were substituted therefor, (
- b)in each place where " animal " occurs " pig " were substituted therefor and in each place where " animals " occurs " pigs " were substituted therefor, (
- c)in paragraph
(3)" or a member of the Garda Síochána " were inserted after " Local Authority ", and (d) the following paragraph were inserted after paragraph
(4): "
(5)Pigs shall not be placed in a vehicle which has been used for the conveyance of pigs and has not been cleansed and disinfected after such use in the manner required by this Article or by a notice served thereunder." The Order requires that every vehicle and not only public service vehicles used for the carriage of pigs must be cleansed and disinfected immediately after use.
