AmendmentsLeasuithe I, OSCAR TRAYNOR, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 12 of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925 (No. 7 of 1925), and section 1 of the Garda Síochána Act, 1958 (No. 14 of 1958), with the sanction of the Minister for Finance and after due compliance with subsection
(2)of the said section 12, hereby order as follows :—
- This Order may be cited as the Garda Síochána Pay Order,
- The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.
- The Garda Síochána Pay (No. 2) Order, 1958 ( S.I. No. 156 of 1958 ), shall, from the 1st day of March, 1960, have effect as if—
(1)for all matter in Article 4 from " Chief Superintendents " to the end of the Article, there were substituted the matter contained in the Schedule to this Order,
(2)Article 6 were deleted,
(3)for Article 7, there were substituted the following Article : " 7.—
(1)Every member of the Force serving as such on the 1st day of March, 1960, shall be deemed to have, on that day, entered the scale of pay appropriate to him in accordance with this Order with benefit of increments appropriate to his period of service in his rank on that day or in a higher rank prior to that day, and his incremental date (other than that of a Guard) shall remain unchanged, save that a member who, at the date of the making of the Garda Síochána Pay Order, 1960, is serving in the rank of Superintendent in the Dublin Metropolitan Division or who, on or after the 1st day of March, 1960, and before the date of the making of the said Order, retired from the Force while so serving shall, while the scale of pay appointed for Superintendents by Article 4 of this Order is or was applicable to him, be regarded as being or having been, as the case may be two increments in advance in that scale.
(2)The incremental date for every Guard serving on the 1st day of March, 1960, shall, with effect from that day, be the anniversary of the day following the day on which he completed his period of training ", and
(4)paragraph (a) of Article 14 were deleted.
- In Article 3 of the Garda Síochána Pay (No. 2) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1959 ), all matter from " Chief Superintendents " to the end of the Article shall, with effect from the 1st day of March, 1960, be deleted.
- The Garda Síochána Pay Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 272 of 1955 ), and the Garda Síochána Pay Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 51 of 1959 ), shall from the 1st day of March, 1960, cease to have effect. OSCAR TRAYNOR. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 12th day of May,
