No. 208 of 1960. SOCIAL WELFARE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1960 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1960. I, SEÁN MacENTEE, Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 24 of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 (No. 25 of 1960), hereby order as follows:— 1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 (Commencement) Order, 1960. 2. In this Order the expression "the Principal Act" means the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952). 3.—
(1)The following provisions of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 , shall come into operation on the 2nd day of January, 1961:— sections 3, 14 and 17, section 9 in so far as it amends subsection
(1)of section 27 of the Principal Act, section 15 in so far as it relates to Disability Benefit, Unemployment Benefit and Maternity Allowance, and section 16 in so far as it amends paragraph 1 of the Fourth Schedule to the Principal Act.
(2)The following provisions of the Social Welfare (Amendment) 'Act, 1960, shall come into operation on the 6th day of January, 1961:— sections 6, 7, 8, 11, 19, 20, 21 and 23, section 9 in so far as it amends subsection
(2)of section 27 of the Principal Act, section 15 in so far as it relates to Widow's (contributory) Pension, Orphan's (contributory) Allowance and Old Age (contributory) Pension, and section 16 in so far as it amends paragraph 4 of the Fourth Schedule to the Principal Act.
(3)The remaining provisions of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 , shall come into operation forthwith. GIVEN under my Official Seal this 3rd day of October, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Sixty. SEÁN MACENTEE, Minister for Social Welfare. EXPLANATORY NOTE. This Order brings into operation the provisions of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 (No. 25 of 1960). Under the Order, the provisions of the Act relating to increased rates of contributions and of disability benefit, unemployment benefit and maternity allowance will commence on 2nd January 1961; the provisions of the Act relating to the new old age (contributory) pensions, and the improved widows (contributory) pensions and orphans (contributory) allowances will commence on 6th January, 1961; the remaining provisions of the Act come into operation forthwith.
