I, SÉAMAS Ó RIAIN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection

(1)of section 5 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1964 (No. 14 of 1964), hereby make the following regulations : 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) (Travelling Facilities) Regulations, 1964. 2. The following facilities are hereby prescribed as travelling facilities for the purposes of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) Act, 1938 (No. 34 of 1938) : (
  1. a)in cases in which, the normal place of residence of the member being within the area all places in which are within 10 miles from Leinster House, the claim is in respect of occasions of attendance by the member at a meeting of— (
  2. i)Dáil Éireann or Seanad Éireann, or (
  3. ii)a committee of Dáil Éireann or Seanad Éireann of which he is a member— an allowance at the rate of 10s. per day, and (
  4. b)in all other cases— (
  5. i)a mileage allowance at the rate of 6d. per mile, or (
  6. ii)where the member claims that he travelled in his own motor car, a mileage allowance at the appropriate rate specified in the Schedule to these Regulations, or (iii) such travelling expenses as the Minister for Finance shall be satisfied were reasonably incurred. SCHEDULE. Class of Rates Primary Rate (payable for first, 15,000 miles travelled in any year commencing 1st April) Secondary Rate (payable for miles travelled between 15,000 and 20,000 in any year commencing 1st April) Tertiary Rate (payable for miles travelled over 20,000 in any year commencing 1st April) per mile per mile per mile d. d. d. Class A—Motor Cars more than 8 H.P. but less than 10 H.P. 8 6 6 "B—Motor Cars not less than 10 H.P. but less than 12 H.P. 10 7 6 "C—Motor Cars not less than 12 H.P. but less than 14 H.P. 11½ 8 6 "D—Motor Cars not less than 14 H.P. but less than 20 H.P. 12½ 9 6 "E—Motor Cars not less than 20 H.P. but less than 26 H.P. 13½ 10 6 " F—Motor Cars not less than 26 H.P. 14 11 6 GIVEN under my Official Seal, this fourth day of December, 1964.
