CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT( SHIP BUILDING AND REPAIRING INDUSTRY) (EXCLUSION (REGULATIONS, 1964. I, JOHN LYNCH, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 29 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936), and after consultation with representatives of employers interested in the forms of industrial work specified in the Schedule hereto and with representatives of workers so interested, hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Conditions of Employment (Ship Building and Repairing Industry) (Exclusion) Regulations, 1964. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations. 3. The forms of industrial work specified in the Schedule to these regulations are hereby declared to be excluded industrial work for the purposes of sections 38 , 41 , 42 and 49 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936). SCHEDULE. (
4. a)Work done by male adult workers in connection with repairs to any vessel or ship following damage or breakdown affecting hull or machinery, and any other work required to be carried out in a limited period to enable such vessel or ship to keep to her scheduled sailings. (
5. b)Work done by male adult workers in the shipbuilding and ship repairing industry in connection with ship construction, steel fabrication and machinery installation, and any other work in such industry required to be carried out to permit the delivery of new construction on planned delivery dates. EXPLANATORY NOTE The purpose of these Regulations is to exclude male adult workers employed in the Ship Building and Repairing Industry from the restrictions imposed on working hours and Sunday work by the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 .
