SEEDS (REGULATION OF IMPORT) ORDER, 1966. I, CHARLES J. HAUGHEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Agricultural Products (Regulation of Import) Act, 1938 (No. 14 of 1938), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 ), hereby, after consultation with the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Industry and Commerce, order as follows :— 1.—
(1)This Order may be cited as the Seeds (Regulation of Import) Order, 1966.
(2)The Grass Seed (Regulation of Import) Order, 1952 ( S.I. No. 277 of 1952 ), and Articles 3 and 4 of this Order may be cited together as the Grass Seed (Regulation of Import) Orders, 1952 and 1966.
(3)The Seeds (Regulation of Import) Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 177 of 1955 ), and this Order may be cited together as the Seeds (Regulation of Import) Orders, 1955 and
- This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of July,
- In this Order " the United Kingdom " means Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
- The Grass Seed (Regulation of Import) Order, 1952, shall, as respects the importation of grass seed which is neither cocksfoot seed nor ryegrass seed and is produced in and imported from the United Kingdom, cease to have effect.
- The Seeds (Regulation of Import) Order, 1955, shall, as respects the importation of seeds of sugar beet produced in and imported from the United Kingdom, cease to have effect. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 28th day of June,

EXPLANATORY NOTE The effect of this Order is to remove, from 1st July, 1966, control on the importation of grass seeds (other than cocksfoot seed and ryegrass seed) and seed of sugar beet which are produced in and imported from Great Britain, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Northern Ireland.
