CHILDERS, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 4

(2)and section 10
(5)of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (No. 25 of 1956), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), hereby make the following regulations: 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (Exceptions and Exemptions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1967.
(2)These Regulations shall come into operation on the 18th day of May,
  1. Regulation 4 of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (Exceptions and Exemptions) Regulations, 1957 ( S.I. No. 205 of 1957 ), shall not apply to a ship registered in the State of twenty thousand tons gross tonnage or more for which the building contract was entered into after the commencement of section 3 of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1965 (No. 1 of 1965). The effect of these Regulations is that new Irish-registered ships of 20,000 tons gross or more are not permitted to discharge oil into the sea in exceptional circumstances permitted to ships of lesser tonnage.
