I, JOSEPH BRENNAN, Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952) and section 28A of the said Act (inserted therein by section 10 of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 (No. 25 of 1960) and amended by section 6 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1966 (No. 24 of 1966)), hereby make the following Regulations:— 1.

(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1967.
(2)The Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 ( S.I. No. 235 of 1966 ) and these Regulations may be cited collectively as the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 and
  2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 5th day of January,

The following Schedule shall be substituted for the Schedule to the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966:— SCHEDULE Reduced rates of widows' (contributory) pensions where contribution conditions are partially satisfied. Average number of contributions paid or credited per contribution year in the relevant period. Reduced weekly rates at which pension is payable. Widow with no qualified child Widow with qualified child or qualified children 42 to 47 .. .. .. .. .. 55/- 57/6d. 36 to 41 .. .. .. .. .. 52/6d. 55/- 30 to 35 .. .. .. .. .. 50/- 52/6d. 24 to 29 .. .. .. .. .. 47/6d. 50/- GIVEN under my Official Seal this 20th day of December,

EXPLANATORY NOTE These Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966, which provide for payment of reduced rates of widows' (contributory) pensions where the contribution conditions are partially satisfied, for the purpose of increasing as from 5th January, 1968, these reduced rates to 55/-, 52/6d, 50/- and 47/6d from 50/-, 47/6d, 45/- and 42/6d respectively in the case of widows' with no qualified child, and to 57/6d, 55/- 52/6d and 50/- from 52/6d, 50/-, 47/6d and 45/- respectively in the case of widows with qualified children.
