No. 168 of 1968. RELIEF FROM OBLIGATION TO SUPPLY GAS (SLIGO AREA) ORDER, 1968. WHEREAS the Sligo Lighting and Electric Power Company (in this Order referred to as the Company) is authorised by the Sligo Gas Company's Act, 1855, the Sligo Gas Order, 1893 and the Sligo Lighting and Electric Power Act, 1924 (No. 1 (Private) of 1924), to supply gas in the area consisting of the whole of the urban district of Sligo in the barony of Carbury and county of Sligo (in this Order referred to as the Sligo area); AND WHEREAS the Company is by virtue of the aforesaid Acts and Order under a general obligation to supply gas upon demand in the Sligo area; AND WHEREAS the Company is an authorised undertaker and the Sligo area is included in the area of supply of the Company; AND WHEREAS the Company has applied to the Minister for Transport and Power (in this Order referred to as the Minister) for an order under section 104 of the Electricity Supply Act, 1927 (No. 27 of 1927), in relation to the Sligo area; AND WHEREAS the Minister has inquired into the circumstances of the case and is satisfied that the Sligo area is sufficiently supplied with electricity and that the supply of gas in the Sligo area has ceased to be remunerative to the Company and that it is just that the Company should be relieved from the obligation to supply gas upon demand as aforesaid; NOW the Minister, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 104 of the Electricity Supply Act, 1927 , hereby orders as follows : 1. This Order may be cited as the Relief from Obligation to Supply Gas (Sligo Area) Order, 1968. 2. The Company is wholly relieved from the general obligation to supply gas upon demand within the Sligo area imposed by Sligo Gas Company's Act, 1855, the Sligo Gas Order, 1893, and the Sligo Lighting and Electric Power Act, 1924 .
