AmendmentsLeasuithe S.I. No. 37 of 1968. FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (RESTRICTION OF SPORTS AND SALES) (No. 2) ORDER, 1968. I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby, for the prevention of the spreading of foot and mouth disease, order as follows: 1.
(1)This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Sports and Sales) (No. 2) Order, 1968.
(2)This Order shall come into operation on the 22nd day of February,
- Horse-racing, horse jumping competitions and dog-racing are hereby prohibited save under and in accordance with a licence granted in that behalf by the Minister.
- An inspector may, if authorised by the Minister so to do, by notice in writing served upon the promoters or organisers of any sporting fixture or any public show or sale of animals, poultry or other birds (including a fixture in respect of which a licence has been granted under Article 2) specified in the notice, require the promoters or organisers not to hold the fixture, show or sale to which the notice relates.
- The Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Sports and Sales) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 253 of 1967 ), the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Sports and Sales) (Amendment) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 277 of 1967 ) and the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Sports and Sales) Order, 1968 ( S.I. No. 30 of 1968 ), are hereby revoked. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 21st day of February,
- NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries. EXPLANATORY NOTE. This Order
(1)prohibits horse-racing (including point-to-point racing), horse jumping competitions and dog-racing, except under licence;
(2)empowers an authorised inspector of the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries to prohibit, by notice served on the promoters or organisers, the holding of any sporting fixture or any public show or sale of animals, poultry or other birds (including a fixture in respect of which a licence has been granted);
(3)revokes the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Sports and Sales) Orders, 1967 and 1968.
