No. 262 of 1969. SOCIAL WELFARE (OVERLAPPING BENEFITS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1969. The Minister for Social Welfare in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 and 32 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952), hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Overlapping Benefits) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969.
(2)These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Overlapping Benefits) Regulations, 1953 to 1967, may be cited together as the Social Welfare (Overlapping Benefits) Regulations, 1953 to
- These Regulations shall come into operation on 2nd day of January,
- In these Regulations " the Principal Regulations " means the Social Welfare (Overlapping Benefits) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 14 of 1953 ).
- Articles 4
(9), 26 and 27 of the Principal Regulations (as inserted by the Social Welfare (Overlapping Benefits) (Amendment) Regulations 1967 ( S.I. No. 91 of 1967 )) are hereby amended and Article 11 of the Principal Regulations as amended by the last mentioned Regulations is hereby further amended by the insertion of the words " (specified in the Social Welfare (Occupational Injuries) Act, 1966 (No. 16 of 1966) or at such higher rate as may be subsequently substituted for that rate) " after the words " ninety-five shillings " in each place where these words occur. GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for Social Welfare this 19th day of December, 1969. CAOIMHGHÍN Ó BEOLÁIN, Minister for Social Welfare. EXPLANATORY NOTE. The Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1969 makes provision, inter alia, for an increase from ninety-five to one hundred and five shillings in the rate of widower's pension or parents' pension payable by way of death benefit. These Regulations provide that, for the purposes of the Overlapping Benefit Regulations, the 95/- rate shall be replaced by 105/- or by any higher rate that may in the course of time be substituted.
