HOUSING ACT, 1970 (SUPPLEMENTARY GRANTS) REGULATIONS, 1970. The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 7 of the Housing Act, 1970 (No. 18 of 1970) hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Housing Act, 1970 (Supplementary Grants) Regulations, 1970. 2. The boroughs and urban districts specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby designated as excluded with respect to section 26 (exclusive of subsections
(7)and
(8)), section 27, section 28 and section 29 of the Housing Act, 1966 from the application of subsection
(2)and paragraph (a) of subsection
(3)of section 7 of the Housing Act, 1970 . SCHEDULE The Boroughs of Clonmel, Drogheda, Dun Laoghaire, Galway, Sligo, Kilkenny and Wexford. The Urban Districts of Athlone, Bray, Dundalk and Tralee. GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for Local Government this 4th day of September, 1970. ROBERT MOLLOY, Minister for Local Government. EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM. Section 7 of the Housing Act, 1970 , provides for the payment by county councils of supplementary housing grants in respect of houses built or reconstructed in the boroughs and urban districts in the county other than those boroughs or urban districts which are designated by Regulations made by the Minister for Local Government. These Regulations accordingly designate boroughs and urban districts in which the Corporations and Urban District Councils will continue to be responsible for the payment of supplementary grants in respect of houses built or reconstructed in their areas.
