The Minister for Social Welfare in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952) and section 28A of the said Act (inserted therein by section 10 of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 (No. 25 of 1960) as amended by section 6 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1966 (No. 24 of 1966), hereby makes the following Regulations :— 1.

(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1970.
(2)The Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 to 1969, and these Regulations may be cited collectively as the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 to
  2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of October,
  4. The following Schedule shall be substituted for the Schedule to the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 ( S.I. No. 235 of 1966 ) as substituted by article 3 of the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 237 of 1969 ). SCHEDULE Reduced rates of widows' (contributory) pensions where contribution conditions are partially satisfied. Average number of contributions paid or credited per contribution year in the relevant period Weekly Rate 42 to 47 87/- 36 to 41 85/- 30 to 35 82/- 24 to 29 80/- GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for Social Welfare this 29th day of September,

These Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 to 1969, which provide for payment of reduced rates of widows' (contributory) pension where the contribution conditions are partially satisfied, for the purpose of increasing from the 1st October, 1970 these reduced rates to 87/-, 85/-, 82/- and 80/-, from 72/6, 70/-, 67/6 and 65/- respectively in the case of a widow who has no qualified child and from 75/-, 72/6, 70/- and 67/6 respectively in the case of a widow with qualified children.
