WOOL MARKETING (REGISTRATION FEE AND STANDARDS FOR PREMISES, PLANT AND MACHINERY) REGULATIONS, 1970. I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 8 and 11 of the Wool Marketing Act, 1968 (No. 26 of 1968), hereby make, with the consent of the Minister for Finance (in so far as the following regulations provide for the fixing of fees), the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Wool Marketing (Registration Fee and Standards for Premises, Plant and Machinery) Regulations, 1970. 2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 4th day of May, 1970. 3. A fee of £5 is hereby fixed in respect of an application for registration in the register under section 6 of the Wool Marketing Act, 1968 (No. 26 of 1968). 4. Premises used for the weighing, grading or storage of wool shall comply with such of the standards specified in the following paragraphs of this regulation as are applicable: (
- a)every such premises shall be constructed and maintained in such manner as is necessary to render them damp-proof at all times and to prevent the contamination of wool therein by foreign or extraneous material, (
- b)every such premises shall be provided with sufficient bins or compartments for the separate handling and storage of each grade or type of wool being weighed, graded or stored and the premises shall be provided with such lighting as is adequate to enable those operations, together with such other operations as are ancillary thereto, to be carried out efficiently and effectively, (
- c)every such premises shall be provided with facilities which are adequate for the keeping and inspection of all records relating to the wool weighed, graded or stored therein, (
- d)premises used for the weighing or grading of wool shall be provided with a single area of floor space of not less than 750 square feet for such weighing or grading, (
- e)premises used for the weighing of wool shall be provided with an accurate weighing scales and every such scales shall carry the current official weights and measures stamp, (
- f)premises used for the grading of wool shall be provided with a suitable grading table, and a frame with clean wool packs and, (
- g)premises used for the storage of wool shall be provided with floor space which, having regard to the volume of wool handled or likely to be handled, is sufficient. Facilities shall be provided in such premises to ensure that wool being stored therein comes into contact with neither external walls nor concrete floors. EXPLANATORY NOTE These Regulations prescribe the standards with which a wool buyer's premises, plant and machinery must comply in order for him to gain entry in the Register of Buyers of Wool which is to be set up under the Wool Marketing Act, 1968 . They also prescribe a fee of £5 to accompany applications for entry in the Register.
