No. 104/1971 - The Cork Hospitals Board (Establishment) Order, 1966 (Amendment) Order, 1971 AmendmentsLeasuithe S.I. No. 104 of 1971. THE CORK HOSPITALS BOARD (ESTABLISHMENT) ORDER, 1966 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1971 The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 to 6 of the Health (Corporate Bodies) Act, 1961 (No. 27 of 1961), hereby orders as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Cork Hospitals Board (Establishment) Order, 1966 (Amendment) Order, 1971. 2. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the Cork Hospitals Board (Establishment) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 133 of 1966 ). 3. Article 4 of the Principal Order as amended by article 2 of the Cork Hospitals Board (Establishment) Order, 1966 (Amendment) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 211 of 1967 ) is hereby amended by the substitution in sub-article (
- a)of "Southern Health Board" for "Cork Health Authority" and by the addition in sub-articles (
- d)and (
- h)of the words "health boards", after the words "local authorities". 4. Article 5 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution for sub-articles
(1)and
(2)of the following sub-articles: "
(1)The Board shall consist of twenty members appointed by the Minister.
(2)Seventeen of the said members shall be appointed by the Minister as follows: (
- a)nine members of the Southern Health Board being— (
- i)such members of the Southern Health Board as were members of the Board immediately prior to the 1st day of April, 1971, and (
- ii)other members of the Southern Health Board nominated by the Southern Health Board; (
- b)the Chief Executive Officer of the Southern Health Board; (
- c)two officers of the Southern Health Board on the nomination of the Chief Executive Officer of the said Health Board; (
- d)the President of University College, Cork; (
- e)a member of the medical teaching staff of University College, Cork, on the nomination of the President of the said University; (
- f)a member of the dental teaching staff of University College, Cork, on the nomination of the President of the said University; (
- g)two persons nominated by the Minister for Education". 5. The following article is hereby substituted for article 6 of the Principal Order: "6. The Chairman shall be appointed by the Minister from among the members of the Southern Health Board appointed under paragraph (
- a)of sub-article 2 of article 5 of this Order". 6. Article 8 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution for sub-articles
(2)and
(3)of the following sub-articles: "
(2)A member appointed under paragraph (a), (b) or (c) of sub-article
(2)of article 5 of this Order shall cease to be a member on his ceasing to be a member or officer of the Southern Health Board;
(3)A member appointed under paragraph (d), (e) or (f) of sub-article
(2)of article 5 of this Order shall cease to be a member on his ceasing to be the President or a member of the medical or dental teaching staff of University College, Cork". 7. Article 21 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution in sub-article
(4)of "health board" for "local authority".
- Article 22 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the addition of the words "or a health board" after the words "local authority".
- This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of April,

This order makes provision for amendments to the Orders under which the Cork Hospitals Board is established and which are necessary owing to the dissolution as from the 1st of April, 1971 of the Cork Health Authority by virtue of the Health Authorities (Dissolution) Order,
