HEALTH (OFFICERS AGE LIMIT) ORDER, 1971 The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 19 of the Health Act, 1970 (No. 1 of 1970) hereby determines as follows:— 1. This Order may be cited as the Health (Officers Age Limit) Order, 1971. 2. (
4. a)The age of seventy years shall be the age limit in respect of each of the following officers:— (
5. i)permanent district medical officers; (
6. ii)permanent officers, who immediately prior to their transfer to health boards, were holders of an amalgamated office, comprising an office of district medical officer of a dispensary district and another office; (iii) permanent officers who are not by law entitled to or capable of being granted a superannuation allowance on their resigning or otherwise ceasing to hold office. (
7. b)The age limit in respect of an officer who is not by law entitled to or capable of being granted a superannuation allowance on resigning or otherwise ceasing to hold office at the age of sixty-five years shall be the age at which he becomes entitled to or capable of being granted such an allowance. This Order fixes age limits higher than the statutory limit of sixty-five years for certain officers under health boards. The higher age limit determined by the Minister in this Order is seventy years but for an officer whose entitlement to a pension would depend on his having longer service than he would have were he to retire at sixty-five years the age limit is the age at which he becomes entitled to pension.
