AmendmentsLeasuithe I, DESMOND O'MALLEY, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 12 of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925 (No. 7 of 1925), and section 1 of the Garda Síochána Act, 1958 (No. 14 of 1958), with the sanction of the Minister for Finance and after compliance with subsection

(2)of the said section 12, hereby order as follows :
  1. This Order may be cited as the Garda Síochána Pay Order,
  3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. 3.
(1)This Order, other than Article 6, shall— (
  1. a)in relation to the rates and scales set out in the First Schedule hereto be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1969, (
  2. b)in relation to the rates and scales set out in the Second Schedule hereto be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1970, and (
  3. c)in relation to the rates and scales set out in the Third Schedule hereto be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1971.
(2)Article 6 of this Order shall be deemed to have come into operation. 4. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the Garda Síochána Pay (No. 2) Order, 1958 ( S.I. No. 156 of 1958 ). 5. The Principal Order shall have effect as if the rates and scales contained in the Schedules to this Order were substituted for the relevant rates and scales (inserted by the Garda Síochána Pay Order, 1969 ( S.I. No. 214 of 1969 ), contained in Article 4. 6. Article 12 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (
  1. d)(inserted by the Garda Síochána Pay and Allowances Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 41 of 1961 )) of the following: "(
  2. d)in respect of each member of the Force for whom, or (in the case of a member who is married) for whose family, suitable official quarters are available, to deductions in respect of the quarters at whatever rates as may be approved from time to time by the Minister for Justice, with the consent of the Minister for Finance.
