LONGFORD COUNTY COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1974. The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 33

(7)of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941), hereby orders as follows:— 1.
(1)This Order may be cited as the Longford County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974.
(2)This Order and the Longford County Council Order, 1942, may be cited collectively as the Longford County Council Orders, 1942 and 1974. 2.
(1)The Longford County Council (Amendment) Order, 1954, ( S.I. No. 63 of 1954 ) is hereby revoked.
(2)Article 3 of, and the Schedule to, the Longford County Council Order, 1942, are hereby revoked. 3.
(1)The County of Longford shall be divided into the county electoral areas named in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.
(2)Each such county electoral area shall consist of the areas set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.
(3)The number of members of the Council of the County of Longford to be elected for each such county electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.
  1. Every reference in the Schedule to this Order to a district electoral division, townland or urban district shall be construed as referring to such district electoral division, townland or urban district as existing at the date of this Order. SCHEDULE. County Electoral Area Contents of County Electoral Area Number of Members to be elected for each county electoral area Ballinalee The District Electoral Divisions of:— 4 Aghaboy, Ardagh East, Ballinalee, Ballymuigh, Bunlahy, Cloonee, Corboy, Crossagstown, Currygrane, Drummeel, Gelshagh, Knockanbaun, Lislea, Meathas Truim, Moatfarrell. Ballymahon The District Electoral Divisions of:— 6 Agharra, Ardagh West, Ballymahon, Cashel East, Cashel West, Doory, Forgney, Foxhall, Kilcommock, Kilglass, Ledwithstown, Mountdavis, Moydow, Rathcline. Drumlish The District Electoral Divisions of:— 3 Ballinamuck East, Ballinamuck West, Columbkille, Drumgort, Drumlish, Killoe, Moyne; the townland of Corrabaun in the District Electoral Division of Breanrisk; and the townlands of:— Aghakine, Aghnacliff, Carrickadorrish, Sonnagh and Inchmore Island and two other islands in the District Electoral Division of Sonnagh. Granard The District Electoral Divisions of:— 3 Abbeylara, Coolamber, Creevy, Dalystown, Firry, Granard Rural, Granard Urban, Milltown, Mullanalagtha, Newgrove. Longford The District Electoral Divisions of:— 5 Caldragh, Cloondara, Killashee, Longford Rural, Newtown Forbes; the townlands of:— Aghnamaddoo, Ballincurry, Bawn, Breanrisk, Carrickmoyragh, Cartrongar, Cloonagh, Cloonellan, Cloonmacart, Cloontagh, Currygranny, Derrynacrit, Kilnashee, Leitrim, and Prucklish in the District Electoral Division of Breanrisk; the townlands of: Aghakeeran, Ballinrooey, Cranally and Culray in the Distirct Electoral Division of Sonnagh; and the Urban District of Longford. The effect of this Order is to divide Longford County into five county electoral areas for the purpose of the election of members of Longford County Council and to fix the number of members to be elected for each county electoral area.
