AmendmentsLeasuithe I, PATRICK COONEY, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 13 of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925 (No. 7 of 1925), as adapted by the Public Service (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 294 of 1973 ), hereby, with the sanction of the Minister for the Public Service and after compliance with the provisions of subsection
(2)of that section, order as follows: 1.
(1)This Order may be cited as the Garda Síochána Pensions Order, 1976.
(2)This Order shall be deemed to have come into effect on the 1st day of January,
- The Garda Síochána Pensions Orders, 1925 to 1975, and this Order may be cited together as the Garda Síochána Pensions Orders, 1925 to
- The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.
- Paragraph 9 (inserted by the Garda Síochána Pensions Order, 1950 ( S.I. No. 154 of 1950 )) of Article 9 of the Garda Síochána Pensions Order, 1925, is hereby amended by the substitution for "who was appointed (or if he had two or more separate periods of service, was first appointed ) to the force" of "whose approved service (or, if he had two or more separate periods of service, whose first period of approved service) commenced".
- Article 8 of the Garda Síochána Pensions Order, 1951 ( S.I. No. 410 of 1951 ), is hereby amended by the substitution in paragraph (a) for "was appointed (or, if he had two or more separate periods of service, was first appointed) to the force" of "his approved service (or, if he had two or more periods of service, his first period of approved service) commenced". This Order contains provision in relation to the reckoning of service of members who were appointed to the Force after their 27th birthday and who had prior service which is reckonable as "approved service" for Garda Síochána pension purposes.
