HARBOUR RATES (SLIGO PORT AND HARBOUR) ORDER, 1976. I, PETER BARRY, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 104 of the Harbours Act, 1946 (No. 9 of 1946), and by the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), hereby order as follows: 1.
(1)This Order may be cited as the Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1976.
(2)This Order shall come into operation on the 8th day of August,
- The Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1943 (S.R. & O., No. 43 of 1943) (as amended by the Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1953 ( S.I. No. 369 of 1953 ), and the Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 244 of 1967 )), is hereby amended by— ( a ) the substitution for Part I of the First Schedule thereto of the foregoing: " FIRST SCHEDULE. PART
- MAXIMUM TONNAGE RATES. Ref. No. Description of charge Rate
- Tonnage rates on vessels other than vessels described at Reference Numbers 2 and 3 below ( a ) On every ton of the net register tonnage or of half the gross tonnage whichever is the greater of every vessel (except as hereinafter provided) entering the Harbour for the purpose of shipping, transhipping or discharging cargo, or cargo and passengers, a sum not exceeding 30p ( b ) On every ton of the net register tonnage or of half the gross tonnage whichever is the greater of every vessel entering the Harbour for the purpose of embarking or disembarking passengers or on an excursion trip, or through stress of weather, or for repairs, or for salvage operations, or for a supply of coal or stores for ships consumption only and not discharging or loading cargo, a sum not exceeding 20p ( c ) On every ton of the net register tonnage or of half the gross tonnage whichever is the greater of every vessel remaining or lying in the Harbour after the expiration of a period of six consecutive weeks, a sum for each week not exceeding 10p
- Tonnage rates on fishing vessels: As a composition in full in lieu of tonnage rates on every fishing vessel engaged in fishing entering the Harbour per trip £2
- Tonnage rates on salvage vessels. The appropriate charges at reference number
(1)(b) above on first entry to the Harbour and in addition on every ton of the net tonnage or half the gross tonnage whichever is the greater, with a minimum of 120 rateable tons for each day (Sundays excepted) during the continuance of the salvage operations or in the breaking up or removal of wrecks, a sum not exceeding 10p ,. and ( b ) by the substitution for the Second Schedule thereto of the following: " SECOND SCHEDULE. - Articles 5 and 6 of, and the Schedule to, the Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1953, and the Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1967, are hereby revoked. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 29th day of July,

The effect of this Order is to authorise the Sligo Harbour Commissioners to charge revised maximum goods and tonnage rates at the Port of Sligo.
