CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 52) (MISCELLANEOUS TEXTILE PIECE GOODS) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1977. The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 11 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), hereby make the following Order:— 1. This Order may be cited as the Controls of Import (Quota No. 52) (Miscellaneous Textile Piece Goods) (Amendment) Order, 1977 and shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1977. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. 3. In this Order, "the Order of 1964" means the Control of Imports (Quota No. 52) (Miscellaneous Textile Piece Goods) Order, 1964, ( S.I. No. 298 of 1964 ). 4. The Order of 1964 is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (
  4. c)of the Second Schedule thereto of the following: "(
  5. c)All countries not previously mentioned in this Schedule other than the following: Japan, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Roumania, East Germany, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Yugoslavia, Macao, U.S.S.R., People's Republic of China, Albania, Hungary, Mongolia, Hong Kong, North Korea, China Nationalist, Vietnam (North)". (Taiwan), 5. Subject to Article 6 of this Order, the prohibition on the importation of goods effected by the Order of 1964 shall cease to apply to goods which are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been manufactured in, or to have originated in, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Pakistan or Yugoslavia. 6. Notwithstanding the provisions of Article 5 of this Order— (
  6. a)the prohibition effected by the Order of 1964 on the importation of goods that are specified at tariff heading number 55.06 and are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been manufactured in, or to have originated in, Hong Kong, India, Macao or Pakistan shall continue in force until the 30th day of June, 1977 and shall then cease to have effect; (
  7. b)the prohibition effected by the Order of 1964 on the importation of goods that are specified at tariff heading 62.05 and are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been manufactured in or to have originated in India, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Macao or Malaysia shall continue in force until the 30th day of June, 1977 and shall then cease to have effect; and (
  8. c)the prohibition effected by the Order of 1964 on the importation of goods that are specified at tariff heading 62.03 shall continue in force. 7. The prohibition effected by the Order of 1964 in respect of the importation of goods which are— (
  9. a)specified at a tariff heading number in column

(1)of the Schedule to this Order or at a tariff code number specified in column
(2)of that Schedule, (b) of a description specified in column
(3)of that Schedule opposite the mention in column
(1)or column
(2), as the case may be, of a tariff heading number or a tariff code number, (c) shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been manufactured in, or to have originated in, Taiwan, shall cease to have effect.

  5. LIAM MAC COSGAIR, Taoiseach. EXPLANATORY NOTE. The effect of this Instrument is to amend Control of Imports (Quota No. 52) (Miscellaneous Textile Piece Goods) Order, 1964 as follows:—
  6. to extend the prohibitions of the Order to the four countries Albania, Mongolia, North Korea and Vietnam (North),
  7. to remove from the scope of the Order in respect of Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Pakistan and Yugoslavia all goods to which the Order applies,
  8. to delete from the Order in respect of Taiwan and the goods set ut in the Schedule.
