RETAIL PRICES (POTATOES) DISPLAY ORDER, 1977. The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 19 of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958), as amended by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), hereby orders as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Retail Prices (Potatoes) Display Order, 1977. 2. This Order shall come into operation on the 31st day of January, 1977. 3.
(1)Every person who carries on in the State the business of selling potatoes by retail shall exhibit a notice at the shop, vehicle or other place where the business is carried on and the notice shall specify each variety of potatoes on sale by retail at the shop, vehicle or other place and the retail price charged there for each variety when sold pre-packed (if it is on sale there pre-packed) and when sold loose (if it is on sale there loose).
(2)Where prices calculated at different rates for different numbers or different weights of potatoes are being charged for potatoes of any variety sold by retail at a shop, vehicle or other place, the notice displayed there pursuant to paragraph
(1)of this Article shall specify each price charged. 4. A notice exhibited pursuant to Article 3 of this Order shall— (
- a)in case any potatoes to which it relates are displayed for sale, be in the immediate vicinity of the potatoes, or some of the potatoes, so displayed and be in such a position as to be clearly visible and easily accessible to all persons in the immediate vicinity, and (
- b)in any other case— (
- i)if it is at a shop, be in such a position as to be clearly visible and easily accessible to all persons frequenting the shop before or immediately after entering the shop, and (
- ii)if it is at a vehicle or other place referred to in the said Article 3, be in such a position as to be clearly visible and easily accessible to all persons in the immediate vicinity. 5. A notice exhibited pursuant to Article 3 of this Order shall be in such form as to be capable of being easily read by all persons frequenting the shop, vehicle or other place at which it is so exhibited and the letters and figures on the notice shall be at least 2.5 centimetres in height and of proportionate width. This Order requires every person who carries on the business of selling potatoes by retail to display, in the manner specified in the Order, the retail price or retail prices charged by him for potatoes.
